At each stage, de Wolf stresses the physical principles underlying the mathematical results. I have compared quite a few books on electromagnetics, and this one is the most detailed and most honest presentation of electromagnetics at the introductory level I have found. This books definitely tops others in terms of content and clarity. I compared it to Field and Wave Electromagnetics by Cheng, Fundamentals of Engineering Electromagnetics by Cheng, Elements of Electromagnetics by Sadiku, Engineering Electromagnetics by Inan, and Engineering Electromagnetics by Hayt. I should note however that Engineering Electromagnetics by Inan is a very good first read for electromagnetics students.
