Like all of the SAP Press books, this one follows a set format. However, unlike most of the others that we have seen, it does actually have some useful information. There is the usual high level overview of processes, and the fairly bland descriptions that you find in most of the SAP books, but this one also includes some description of how to carry out the processes, that will allow you to try it out for yourself.As SAP is such a big product, managing change requests in a structured fashion is important. Unfortunately, most companies (and in particular, senior managers) fail to understand the need for this and as a result, it can create huge problems if a set format for managing requests is not followed. The book does seem to assume that all organisations will have large teams of people to administer the systems; smaller businesses may well find that they do not have the quantity of personnel required to follow this.If you already have SAP installed, you may well find this book of value in showing you how you should have done things from the beginning; you may even be able to start to enforce changes using this process. If you are new to SAP, you may well struggle to understand the reason behind some of the need for the process management. It is worth having; but it may take a while before you will start to see the value.
